The Business Program Manager (BPM) is responsible for leading and managing complex, cross-functional programs from initiation to successful completion. A key focus is translating program success into commercial results and meeting defined revenue goals. The BPM acts as a critical driver, coordinating Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Sales/Account teams while also serving as a key operational point of contact for strategic accounts.
1. Business Strategy and Program Governance
Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the crucial interface between Product Management, Engineering, and Operations, translating market requirements and product specifications into actionable operational plans.
Risk and Issue Resolution: Proactively identify potential technical, supply chain, or production risks, and lead cross-functional teams to develop and execute resolution plans.
Executive Reporting and Presentation: Demonstrated proficiency in tailoring complex technical and operational updates into clear, concise, and high-impact reports and presentations for executive leadership.
*Financial Acumen and Value Realization: Understand of business drivers including, total cost of ownership, and profit/loss implications. Tracking the realization of projected business benefits.
2. Strategic Account Engagement and Sales Enablement
*Account Program Management: Act as a primary operational liaison for strategic account sales teams, ensuring program plans align with customer delivery schedules and volume commitments.
*Volume and Forecast Management: Collaborate closely with the Sales/Account teams and Supply Chain to validate sales forecasts, manage program production readiness, and secure alignment to meet quarterly and annual revenue targets.
*Customer-Focused Program Resolution: When program issues (e.g., delays, supply constraints) impact a key customer, lead the cross-functional effort to communicate the mitigation plan to the Account Manager and ensure its timely execution.
3. Communication and social skill
*Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to effectively identify, engage, and manage expectations across a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, including Engineering, Sales, Operations, and external partners (e.g., ODMs/CMs).
*Cross-Functional Influence: Ability to influence without direct authority, driving consensus and decision-making among functionally diverse teams to achieve program objectives and resolve critical roadblocks.
*Negotiation and Conflict Resolution: Strong negotiation skills to mediate conflicts, prioritize competing resources or objectives, and drive optimal outcomes for the business program.
*Active Listening and Clarity: Excellent active listening skills to understand challenges from various perspectives, coupled with the ability to articulate program requirements, risks, and next steps with unwavering clarity in both written and verbal formats.
